From August 2024 to June 2025, Artspeak Gallery will steward the storefront project space “The Cheeky Proletariat” on 320 Carrall St, Vancouver. We are excited to open submissions for installation proposals within the storefront during this time.
Important information:
- Artspeak Gallery commits to providing $500 for artist fees and $500 for installation needs to successful applicants.
- The Cheeky Proletariat is an 8 by 5 foot space.
Requirements for submission:
- You are an emerging artist with a relationship to the DTES.
- Only print, illustrative, and media works will be considered.
- Work MUST be original.
Requirements to exhibit:
- Selected artists must prepare, install, and deinstall their own work.
- Selected artists are responsible for returning the space to the condition it was given.
How to submit a proposal:

- Submissions must include the artist name, artist contact, title of work, artist statement (350 words max), up to three images of work, and description of anticipated installation requirements of how work will be displayed/mounted.

- In-person submission:
- This can occur in-person delivery to Artspeak Gallery located at 233 Carrall St, Vancouver.
- Submissions must include the artist name, artist contact, title of work, artist statement (350 words max), up to three images of work, and description of anticipated installation requirements of how work will be displayed/mounted.
Submissions will open on July 1 2024, and be processed and accepted on a rolling basis.
