Gemma Buffalo

Gemma Buffalo is an Indigenous artist born on Treaty 6 territory from the Samson Cree nation in Maskwacis. She is currently based in the stolen ancestral occupied territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh first nations people. Being a child of a residential school survivor and living on and off reserve, Gemma’s work of reclaiming her Indigenous culture drives her to challenge the social stigma of what it means to be an Indigenous woman. Gemma’s experience in dentistry and the fine detail it requires has given her a strong foundation to hone her skills in the nail industry. Motivated to create vibrant colour in pieces, and influenced by her love for harajuku style and anime, Gemma now uses nail beds as a canvas to install meticulously planned unique nail art for adventurous clients.
