• Eli Bornowsky

  Eli Bornowsky is a Vancouver artist. His work has been shown at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver Art Gallery, and Blanket among others.

• Jeff Derksen

  Jeff Derksen, (b. 1958), is a cultural critic and a poet who works at Simon Fraser University. Derksen graduated with distinction from the David Thompson University Center in 1984 with a bachelor in Arts and Science. His writing on art and culture has appeared in Springerin, Hunch, C magazine, Open Letter, Poetics Journal, XCP, amongst others. He has two books of critical essays forthcoming: After Euphoria: art / space / neoliberalism (EC Press/JPR Ringier), and Annihilated Time: Poetry and Other Politics (Talonbooks). Derksen was a research fellow at the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics (CUNY Graduate Center) and is a founding member of the Kootenay School of Writing. Under the name Urban Subjects, he collaborates with Sabine Bitter and Helmut Weber on curatorial projects and visual research.

• Maria Fusco

  Maria Fusco’s most recent book is With A Bao A Qu Reading When Attitudes Become Form (Los Angeles / Vancouver: New Documents, 2013), a collection of short stories The Mechanical Copula (Berlin / New York: Sternberg Press, 2011), published in French as Copulation Mécanique (Paris: éditions ère, 2012). She is also the founder/editorial director of The Happy Hypocrite a semi-annual journal for and about experimental art writing and is currently a Chancellor’s Fellow at Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh and was Director of Art Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London.

• Ken Lum

  Ken Lum is a Vancouver based artist. His work is concerned with issues of identity, especially as they relate to image production in contemporary urban society. Lum has participated in Documenta XI, Shanghai Biennale, Sydney Biennale, Carnegie International, Sáo Paulo Bienal, Venice Biennale, and Johannesburg Biennale. His writing has been published in Art & Text, Art Margins, and Nka: The Journal of Contemporary African Art and Art & Collections. He is Founding Editor of Yishu: The Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art. More recently, Lum has been working on a number of public art commissions in Vancouver, Vienna, Toronto, Stockholm, Zurich, and Leiden that involve a language of critical urban politics. Lum was made a Guggenheim Fellow in 1998, and awarded a Killam Award for Outstanding Research.

• Sven Lutticken

  Sven Lutticken is an Amsterdam based writer, critic, and historian. He contributes regularly to catalogues and art magazines such as Artforum, New Left Review, Afterimage, and Texte zur Kunst.

• Kim Nguyen

  A curator and writer based in San Francisco, where she is Curator and Head of Programs at the CCA Wattis Institute. Nguyen was formerly Director/Curator of Artspeak from 2011-2016. Her writing has appeared in exhibition catalogues and periodicals nationally and internationally, with recent texts in catalogues published by Pied-à-Terre (San Francisco), Gluck 50/Mousse (Milan), and the Herning Museum of Art (Denmark). Nguyen is the recipient of the 2015 Hnatyshyn Foundation Award for Emerging Curators in Contemporary Canadian Art and the 2016 Joan Lowndes Award from the Canada Council for the Arts for excellence in critical and curatorial writing.

• Cate Rimmer

  Cate Rimmer, 1961, is a curator from Calgary, Alberta. She was the founding Director/Curator of Artspeak Gallery, Director of Truck Gallery and was a Curator in Residence at the Saidye Bronfman Centre in Montreal. Rimmer has published reviews, articles and catalogue texts. She received a diploma in Curatorial Studies from Emily Carr and graduated with a MLitt (with distinction) in Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of St Andrews, Scotland.

• Marina Roy

  Marina Roy is Vancouver-based artist and writer whose work explores the intersection between language and visual art. She received her BA in French Literature at Université Laval, a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and her MFA from the University of British Columbia. She has shown nationally and internationally, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, Contemporary Art Gallery, the Or Gallery Berlin, Gallery Sumukha, Chennai & Bengaluru, India, and Chisenhale Gallery, London. Roy was recipient of the VIVA award in 2010. In 2001 she published sign after the x (Artspeak/Arsenal Pulp Press), a book that revolves around the letter X and its multiple meanings. She is currently working on the next book, titled Queuejumping. She is Associate Professor of Visual Art at the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory at the University of British Columbia.
